The Model is Wearing a Size Small - The New Yorker

The Model is Wearing a Size Small - The New Yorker

Illustration designed for an article in the New Yorker magazine which pokes fun at certain situations every woman has experienced at least once in their life while shopping for clothes online. The illustration brings vibrant and bold colors with elements that float around this model, who is proudly wearing an amazing overpriced dress that you want to buy so badly, but unfortunately, they're out of your size and the colors you'd want. Haven't we all been there?

Above are two initial digital sketches which explore different ways to arrange the elements around the main character. The idea was to keep the model as the central and main area of the illustration, having online shopping elements such as buttons to support the storytelling of this moden life tale.

Below are two quick color sketches I created, one after each idea. I wanted to make sure the dress was the main pop of color, the area where the viewers eyes go first.
